How Lil Nas X’s’Old Town Road’ became No.1

Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill became an overnight sensation with the hit single ‘Old Town Road’ earlier this year. Since the song’s release, it has been No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 19 weeks. This also makes it the longest-running No. 1 single in Billboard’s history.

In a recent interview with Hot 97, Lil Nas X explains how the song became viral. “It initially popped off from the first second, from the first moment i put the song out on my account on Twitter.” He then goes into detail on how exactly the song went viral through the use of the internet and memes.
